Daniel Needham

Speaker Bio

As President and Global Chief Investment Officer of Morningstar’s Investment Management group, Daniel Needham leads global business and investment activities. He also chairs the firm’s Global Investment Policy Committee, which oversees the group’s global investment capabilities, committees, and processes. He is a passionate, contrarian investor who helps advisors understand how to manage the complexities of investing.



Previously, Mr. Needham was the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer for Ibbotson Associates Australia, a part of Morningstar, and was responsible for leading the group’s business activities in Asia-Pacific. Before that, he was the CIO of Intech Investments, which was acquired by Morningstar. He held numerous roles at Intech, including portfolio manager, analyst, and head of multi strategy. Mr. Needham has a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Sydney, where he majored in economics and finance. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
